about
"Lost in the Evening" is the second single from the upcoming "The Pushkin Sessions" from Fancy Trash, released Sept 8, 2023.
The full set of songs that comprise "The Pushkin Sessions" — an album of tracks recorded live in the studio in 2007 and unmixed until 16 years later — will be released on November 10, 2023.
Background:
September 2007 marked a significant milestone for Fancy Trash as they celebrated their five-year anniversary with a sold-out show at the Iron Horse Music Hall in Northampton, MA. Led by the talented trio of Dave Houghton (guitar and vocals), Joshua Thayer (upright bass), and Ben Laine (drums), the band expanded their lineup for this special occasion. They welcomed back founding member Jason Smith on drums and percussion and added Katy Schneider on pedal steel, lap steel, and backing vocals. Thane Thomsen of the Figments joined on piano and keyboards, infusing their sound with a new dimension. A month after the show, the magic of the expanded lineup was captured in a live recording session at The Pushkin in Greenfield, MA. However, the recording remained hidden until 2023 when it was finally mixed by Mark Alan Miller at Sonelab and mastered by Jonathan Wyner at M-Works Mastering. The result was the long-delayed album, "The Pushkin Sessions," a testament to Fancy Trash's artistic growth, unwavering dedication, and remarkable chemistry.

lyrics
Hey, ain’t much to say
When I’m lost in the evening
Cuz summer goes quick anyway
And the days are so long I don’t believe you
So time is a favor to play
And no one waits to see the season
Cuz when it’s dark and I have lost all meaning
So now, living day to day
And no use is left in even dreaming
Cuz the winter seems only gray
And there’s no use left in how you can see it
So now, living just the same
Cuz hope is a phase that I’m feeling
Cuz when it’s dark and I have lost all meaning
So hey, ain’t much to say
When I’m lost in the evening
Cuz the winter seems only gray
And the blue skies are boring, just believe it
So, hey, ain’t much to say
When I’m lost in the evening
Cuz when it’s dark and I have lost all meaning
Cuz when it’s dark and I have lost all meaning
