And I’m missing Elvis
And I just can’t help it
And I’m only around just like you
And I miss George and John
And those who don’t belong
And I’m only around breathing too
Where are you?
Where are you?
And I’m missing everyone
And I’m singing everything
And I’m only day dragging too
And I’m missing the love
The love that’s only lost
And I’m only around breathing too, breathing too
And you guess it was true
It’s a life you listen to
It’s a place where heroes were made to lose
And you guess it was true
It’s a life you listen to
It’s a place where heroes will lose
And I’m missing Elvis
And I just can’t help it
And I’m only alive breathing, too
And I’m missing everyone
And I’m singing everything
And I’m only around just like you, just like you
Cuz I’m only empty, only empty, only empty

And the sun nestles at noon and the moon is lost and confused
But the stars are scattered and gone with a view
So wherever you’re going won’t you take me, take me with you
And the moon is lost like a shadow and the sunlight still looks the same
And it’s a feeling, some emotions which could crack like an ocean
So if a heart is only broken will it ever be the same?
And the moon gets lost sometimes, a sunlight’s truth makes you blind
And if the rain makes you scattered and if you’re poor it doesn’t matter
The fact of the matter is you’re only running which way each day
Be the same
Be the same
Be the same
Be the same
And the moon moves all tides, a drift through the worst makes you shine
And when hopes are a-floating and the name’s just worth knowing
So if the heart is only floating will it ever be the same?
And the sun nestles at noon and the moon is lost and confused
And if the rain makes you scattered and if you’re poor it doesn’t matter
The fact of the matter is that the rich just have no change
The rich have no change
The rich have no change
The rich have no change
Be the same
And the sun nestles at noon and the moon is lost and confused
And the stars are scattered and gone with the view
So wherever you’re going won’t you take me, take me with you

Hey, ain’t much to say
When I’m lost in the evening
Cuz summer goes quick anyway
And the days are so long I don’t believe you
So time is a favor to play
And no one waits to see the season
Cuz when it’s dark and I have lost all meaning
So now, living day to day
And no use is left in even dreaming
Cuz the winter seems only gray
And there’s no use left in how you can see it
So now, living just the same
Cuz hope is a phase that I’m feeling
Cuz when it’s dark and I have lost all meaning
So hey, ain’t much to say
When I’m lost in the evening
Cuz the winter seems only gray
And the blue skies are boring, just believe it
So, hey, ain’t much to say
When I’m lost in the evening
Cuz when it’s dark and I have lost all meaning
Cuz when it’s dark and I have lost all meaning

Introducing "The Pushkin Sessions" — a collection of recordings made on two special days sixteen years ago but unheard until now. These recordings capture a unique moment in time, offering a fresh perspective with strong performances from an expanded Fancy Trash lineup.
In September 2007, Fancy Trash celebrated their five-year anniversary with a sold-out show at the Iron Horse Music Hall in Northampton, MA. For this special occasion, they expanded their core lineup (Dave Houghton on vocals and guitar, Joshua Thayer on upright bass, and Ben Laine on drums), bringing back founding member Jason Smith on drums and percussion, and welcoming Katy Schneider on pedal steel and lap steel and Thane Thomsen of the Figments on piano and keyboards.
After the memorable show, the band decided to capture the magic of this six-piece version in a studio recording. They entered The Pushkin in Greenfield, MA in November 2007 and, with Max Adam engineering the session, they recorded the album live, allowing the musicians to play together and capture the energy and spontaneity of their performances.
However, the recordings remained unheard for sixteen years until April 2023 when the band decided to give them the attention they deserved. The mixing of the album was entrusted to acclaimed engineer Mark Alan Miller at Sonelab in Easthampton, MA. Drawing from his extensive experience (Thurston Moore, Dinosaur Jr, Amanda Palmer), Miller skillfully crafted the sonic landscape, preserving the raw emotion and energy of the live sessions, to create a cohesive and powerful album.
The tracks were then passed on to the highly regarded mastering engineer Jonathan Wyner of M-Works Mastering (Nirvana, David Bowie, James Taylor) in Boston, MA. Wyner enhanced the sonic quality of the album while preserving Fancy Trash's artistic vision, resulting in a meticulously mastered album that showcases the band's dynamic sound and musical journey.
"The Pushkin Sessions" feature a unique moment in Fancy Trash's history, with the energy and chemistry of the expanded lineup creating a familiar yet refreshing sonic experience.
Each track on the album carries a sense of urgency and authenticity, resonating with the passion and dedication that fueled the performance and recording sessions. "The Pushkin Sessions" encapsulate a magical atmosphere, breathing new life into songs that have become part of the band's musical journey.
The album stands as a testament to Fancy Trash's artistic growth, commitment to their craft, and ability to evolve while staying true to their roots. It showcases the remarkable chemistry and camaraderie among its members and represents a pivotal moment in the band's history. The album solidifies their unique musical identity and establishes them as a formidable presence in the indie rock and indie folk scenes.
